Contract Clause Decoder

Paste any clause — or a whole contract — and get plain-English explanations of known harmful patterns. Uses deterministic pattern matching, not AI. Your text never leaves your browser.

This tool is educational pattern recognition, not legal advice

The Clause Decoder identifies textual patterns associated with commonly harmful contract language. A match means you should ask questions; an absence of matches does not mean a contract is safe. Contract harm often lives in language this tool doesn't cover: unusual definitions sections, buried cross-references, jurisdiction-specific carve-outs, and novel structures invented after this tool was built.

A real contract needs a real music attorney. If cost is a barrier, contact Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (vlany.org) or your state bar's arts and entertainment law referral program — many provide free or reduced-fee review for emerging artists.
